Support Statement
Our industry is in unprecedented times with a housing supply crisis aligning with significant market challenges from numerous fronts including political, climate change, industrial relations & productivity, supply chain performance and the general breaking down of trust in institutions and governments.
It might sound dramatic however the extent of the crisis is of national significance and how society’s leaders and the industry respond will have life-changing impacts upon multiple generations to come. As the nation’s largest employment sector providing the most fundamental piece of infrastructure, being a persons home, our response today is a critical part of nation building.
My involvement from social and affordable housing all the way through to premium build to sell is reflective of my recognition that the supply crisis is not sub-sector specific and that all sub-sectors are equally important in delivering a strong, resilient and forging nation.
It must also be acknowledged that the solution has to lie in a cooperative Public and Private approach, and this is where I believe industry institutions such as the UDIA are of critical importance. If I’m able to contribute in some small way to assist in the alignment of the multitude of stakeholders in play, now is the time.
