The new Koala Habitation Protection SEPP commences on 1 March 2020, which replaces the former SEPP 44 – Koala Habitat Protection, while we appreciate there are many sensitivities around Koalas following the bushfire, we believe that habitat preservation should be in locations where koalas have been preserved an in locations with feed trees. The SEPP expands the number of koala feed trees from 10 to 123.
We are currently in the process of consulting with the Department on the Guidelines that will inform the new SEPP.
