Jeffrey Bretag
Planning Director, McCloy Group
Personal Biography
I am the Chair of the Hunter UDIA Committee and Planning Director of the McCloy Group. I have tertiary qualifications in environmental science, urban planning and bushfire planning, which are accompanied by the corresponding professional accreditations. I have over fifteen years’ experience working in State Government, Local Government and Private Enterprise as both a consultant and now as the Planning Director of the McCloy Group. I am responsible for obtaining planning approvals across the major urban release areas of the Hunter, which equates to over 5,000 lots at locations such as Regrowth at Kurri Kurri.
Support Statement
I nominate to provide representation to the regional UDIA Members of NSW. I believe that the key enablers required for housing in the regions include:
- Reducing ambiguity by defining key terms such as ‘avoidance’ and ‘net positive’,
- Increasing transparency by publicly reporting and mapping land supply data, and
- Increasing certainty by defining the FPL as 1% AEP until new modelling is completed.
This list is derived from discussions with Members and from my current involvement in delivering projects in the Hunter Region, Central Coast, Northern Region and Southern Regions of NSW. I believe in the need for strong advocacy on a limited number of defined actions, so that we can then hold ourselves and the government accountable. Thank you for your consideration of my nomination.
