44 Market Street by Dexus & Woods Bagot

44 Market St transforms an underutilised podium of one of the city’s first skyscrapers. The site fronts three streets, each with its own programmatic identity. The design responds to each street’s character while maintaining a consistent architectural language that feels of place within its context. Inserted between the existing precast structures are new F&B and retail 4 of 7 tenancies, a reimagined commercial entry, and public realm. The development is becoming iconically recognised by the contextually referenced use of glass bricks which is a contemporary response in the historical character zone, typically represented by brownstone buildings from the Victorian and Federation eras.
