Nautilus at The Waterfront, Shell Cove sets a new benchmark for luxury apartment living on the NSW South Coast. Commanding a harbourfront position overlooking the world-class Shellharbour Marina with views across the harbour and out to the Pacific Ocean, Nautilus comprises of 116 apartments cast across two buildings centered around a communal space including lush mature landscaping, an elliptical shaped pool with pergolas and private rooftop terrace featuring a gymnasium, yoga platform and undercover entertainment spaces. Residents will experience sweeping views across the Pacific Ocean, the newly constructed world-class Shellharbour Marina and Town Centre and views across the Illawarra escarpment.
The building form is a direct response to the unique site shape on the harbour’s edge, with the building’s precast concrete facade mirroring the curvature of the site. This design response also includes a convex curvature of facade in section, mimicking the natural forms of the surrounding marine environment. The building has retained a consistent height plane, utilising a stepped ladder facade design to overcome the large grade across the site.
Various design elements will contribute towards a 4 Star Design and As-Built Greenstar Certification by the Green Building Council of Australia. Initiatives persued include provision of embedded network in the form of solar PV, allowing for the building to operate without gas reticulation. Other initiatives include the use of low carbon concrete, reduction in light spill pollution through considered selection of light fittings and consideration of climate adaption in the building design.
Construction of Nautilus is anticipated to commence in mid-2021 with completion in early 2023.
