Inspired by Byron Bay’s unique natural setting and casual way of life, the architectural design of Jonson Lane provides an exciting mix of residential apartments and laneway style retail experience. Drawing on existing vegetation, the design is anchored by a large central garden space, conceived as the buildings green heart and encouraging a life lived both inside and out while celebrating Byron Bay’s subtropical climate. It embraces Byron Bay’s small community and provide a destination for casual interactions to thrive — for residents, shoppers and locals alike.
100% presales of Residential Apartments prior to Construction, upon completion 100% of commercial tenancies were leased, a successful development in difficult times.
The Residential only apartments were the first of their kind in Byron Bay, this was promoted to buyers that wanted to be part of a community. The rooftop pool facilities and extensively landscaped building provides for a green heart courtyard that the community is centered around.
Development challenges were numerous including COVID related Border Closures which required Hutchinson Builders to source and relocate staff and subcontractors from Sydney to complete work that was contracted with subcontractors in Queensland that couldn’t cross the border. Significant wet weather delays amounting to nearly 40% of the construction timeline introduced significant challenges and finally the Lismore / Northern Rivers flood events. JD Property Group team based themselves on site in a spare site shed for 2 years so that they were on hand to work collaboratively with Hutchinson Builders.
