Building Commissioner Survey on Digital Capability

Building Commissioner Survey on Digital Capability

Purpose:

Builders and designers are encouraged to participate in an important survey by the Office of the Building Commissioner about digital capability in the construction industry. The Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 introduces the requirement that all design and as-built drawings be declared in digital format by design practitioners and building practitioners respectively engaged in building work related to Class 2 buildings. The Office of the Building Commissioner has engaged the Centre for Smart Modern Construction at Western Sydney University (WSU) to survey design and building practitioners to create a snapshot of the construction industry’s baseline digital capabilities. The output of the survey will help set a practical and informed standard of drawings in implementing legislative reforms, identify skills and capabilities gap, and how the Government can help raise industry capability.
