Gledswood Hills by Sekisui House Australia

Gledswood Hills developed by Sekisui House Australia is a masterplanned community located in Sydney’s South West. A 2.5-kilometre purpose-built green corridor traverses the development from the north to south. There are over 40 hectares of landscaped parklands and reserves, 10 neighbourhood parks and playgrounds, over 50 kilometres of cycle and walk paths and Gledswood Hills Primary School. A nine-hole Greg Norman designed golf course also features in the project. Designed in collaboration with Turner Architects, The Yards precinct will establish an open urban village environment. Over 1,550 contemporary dwellings and 375 apartments will be built when completed in 2026.

The Foundry, South Eveleigh by Mirvac

The Foundry is a stunning example of a workplace of the future, bringing together leading technology and design to create a flexible and sustainable campus-style working environment. The Foundry was completed in May 2020 and spans 55,000sqm, over six storeys with expansive floorplates nearing 9,000sqm and one of Australia’s first ‘groundscrapers’. The building is home to around 6,000 Commonwealth Bank of Australia employees including the organisation’s venture-building entity, X15 Ventures. It is the second largest commercial building in Australia and the largest steel building Mirvac has developed to date.

Jaycar at Eastern Creek Business Park by Frasers Property Industrial

Frasers Property Industrial successfully completed its first high bay facility at Eastern Creek Business Park in west Sydney’s Eastern Creek Industrial Precinct in March 2020. The facility features 21,688sqm of floorspace that soars up to 25.5m in the dedicated high bay section that is capable of a 20,0000 pallet capacity. The innovative design is double the height of standard Australian warehouses. A highly engineered slab was designed by Frasers Property Industrial to withstand 29 tonnes from the automated pallet storage and retrieval system. The key innovation was to transform an existing warehouse into a carbon neutral building, targeting a six star NABERS energy rating. The building retains over 80 percent of the existing footprint, and employs a number of sustainable initiatives, including photovoltaic solar panels with battery storage, natural heating and cooling systems, rainwater harvesting, and waste reduction. The completed project has been a successful business development tool in attracting new clients, and interest in the design has led to media coverage and shortlisting in industry awards.

The Royce is a unique collaboration between Tulich and Panthers Penrith Your World of Entertainment, providing Western Sydney with a premium retirement and aged care community. Providing 130 Independent Living Units, 128 bed Residential Aged Care Facility, with a plethora of facilities positioned around beautifully landscaped terraces and courtyard gardens. Calderflower were engaged by Tulich to redesign an existing design that was unable to progress through the DA process. Calderflower completely re-worked the planning and the overall proposal to improve articulation of the building form and mass to provide breaks in the building height and creating roof terraces and gardens.

Harbison Dementia Cottages by Calderflower and Harbison

Two connected fifteen-bed dementia specific care-households have been created in the Southern Highlands with a scale and character that embodies typical domestic life and daily routines through sympathetic siting with a recognisable building form (pitched roof, deep eaves and perimeter verandah) and considered landscaping. These households allow for the highly personalised care of 30 dementia residents, in an environment that is as close to a familiar domestic setting as possible. Completed in July 2019, this is a benchmark project for Harbison and is expected to be followed closely more broadly for ‘best practice’ dementia care in Australia and abroad.

Waterfall by Crown Group was completed in November 2019 comprising 331 luxury apartments. Sitting at the end of a new linear public park, the ambition for Waterfall was to contribute to the village – a series of buildings that fold energy inwards for the enjoyment of residents and outwards for the benefit of the community. Designed by SJB architects, the building’s structural concept was heavily inspired by nature. Design features include a tranquil internal lagoon and bamboo walk, a lush rooftop escape with a private outdoor cinema, Australia’s tallest man-made waterfall and more than 5000 plants on vertical green walls.
