West Dapto Section 94 Development Contributions Plan 

UDIA SUBMISSION ON WEST DAPTO SECTION 94 DEVELOPMENT CONTRIBUTIONS PLAN
 
The UDIA Southern Chapter has written to Wollongong City Council warning that any increases in costs to developers would certainly impact on individual project feasibilities and lead to a slowing down of, or potentially a complete halt to development activity.  The comments come as Council submits its Draft West Dapto Section 94 Development Contributions Plan for IPART assessment.
 
UDIA has commended Council on the work undertaken and resources allocated to reviewing this section 94 plan. The cost of delivering the infrastructure required to deliver this major urban release area; and more importantly who pays for this infrastructure, has long been a key concern.

Case put forward for an Illawarra Development Corporation 

DEVELOPMENT INDUSTRY PRESENTS ITS CASE FOR AN ILLAWARRA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
 
The UDIA Southern Chapter has presented its case for an Illawarra Development Corporation to the advisory committee appointed by the New South Wales Planning Minister Rob Stokes, to examine current operations, and provide advice on potential improvements for regional development corporations. 
 
Representatives from the Southern Chapter met with the Advisory Committee, chaired by Angus Dawson, the former General Manager of the Honeysuckle Development Corporation, which preceded the Hunter Development Corporation, outlining UDIA’s position.

UDIA NSW is seeking talks with the Minister for Local Government the Hon. Paul Toole, MP, concerned about the transitional arrangements for proposed merged Councils.
 
The UDIA Southern Chapter hosted an Industry Luncheon earlier this month focusing on the Future Governance of the Illawarra in response to the State Governments proposal to merge the Illawarra’s four Councils into two.
