Planning Reform: A New Approach
UDIA NSW Chief Executive Stephen Albin said today is the first step in modernising a planning system which has been around longer than the Commodore 64 computer. In order to deal with NSW’s growth in a responsible manner the planning system must be equipped with the right tools.

UDIA State of the Land Report 2016
A new State of the Land report by The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), has for the first time in its eight-year history, found that uncertainty at the federal level is at greater risk of hurting the property development industry, than state level policies.
The 2016 State of the Land report by Australia’s leading property development industry body, was launched today at the UDIA National Congress in Adelaide.
Greater Sydney Commission District Plans
Greater Sydney Commission CEO Sarah Hill spoke at the UDIA NSW CityLife luncheon in February, where she said finalising the six District Plans was one of her immediate priorities.
The Commission is tasked with developing and implementing the district plans, as well as reviewing council Local Environment Plans, determining regionally significant development applications and will act as the decision maker on rezoning proposals currently undertaken by the Minister.
Draft North Coast Regional Plan
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment have released the draft North Coast Regional Plan. The Department has organised a workshop in which its representatives will discuss the plan, and provide an opportunity for questions and discussions.
Liverpool Earmarked as a Major New Employment Hub
As part of the NSW development strategy to create more employment clusters, Liverpool has been earmarked as a major new employment hub.
Research by Urbis indicates the area will be transformed into a vibrant education and infrastructure hub by 2036.
Shanghai Guangzhou Hong Kong Study Tour
UDIA NSW will this year be showcasing Asia for its international Study Tour. The tour will visit Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong to learn lessons from the local property market with a focus on innovation, land use and urban planning.
Parramatta North Urban Transformation Program
UrbanGrowth NSW will be holding public information sessions on Parramatta’s Urban transformation project, with a particular focus on Development Application One.
Crown Group's Green Square Tower breaks ground in Zetland
Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore turned the first sod on site at Green Square in Zetland on March 17, to mark the start of construction for the Crown Group’s Infinity project.
