At the Annual State Conference, peak body the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW today acknowledged the contribution our young leaders under the age of 35, make to the urban development industry.

The announcement today by NSW Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian that the NSW Budget will introduce a foreign investor surcharge on stamp duty and land tax on residential real estate will worsen housing affordability in NSW.

Foreign investment plays a critical role in the investment of housing supply, and in turn, housing affordability. The changes for foreign investors include a 4 per cent stamp duty surcharge on residential real estate, commencing on budget day, and a 0.75 per cent land tax surcharge on residential real estate to commence in 2017.
