Event Details

Join us for our first Illawarra event for 2019! The Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions are home to a huge range of biodiversity. That is both an asset and a challenge for urban development. Conserving the environment and offsetting our impact are vital to our future, but it comes at significant cost to housing affordability.

Hear from OEH’s Regional Director Michael Saxon on the unique biodiversity challenges in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.  Michael will be followed by a  panel of experts who will present possible solutions to this region's biodiversity challenges. Steve Hartley has led DPE’s conservation planning in many NSW regions and knows the challenges with balancing biodiversity and development. Dr Henderson and Ledum Yorgure will discuss real examples from the Illawarra-Shoalhaven where the cost of biodiversity offsets has hit projects hard.

Bring along your clients and colleagues and network over canapés and beverages after formalities conclude.

Michael Saxon, Director South East Branch, Office of Environment & Heritage
